Educational Therapists are professionals who provide intensive individualized educational remediation for children and adults with learning disabilities along with other learning challenges such as, ADD, autism spectrum disorder, language processing problems, poor motivation, low academic self esteem, performance anxiety and poor social, organizational, and/or study skills. They focus on the whole student - that is, the emotional as well as cognitive and perceptual factors involved in successful learning. NILD Educational Therapists use five core techniques along with individualized techniques that are tailored to the clients deficits.

About Colleen

Mrs. Jones is a Certified NILD Educational Therapist, as well as, a Cognitve Therapy mediator through Equipping Minds, in private practice. She specializes in Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning-related issues. She believes that every child can be a competent learner and seeks to maximize each student’s learning potential.

Colleen received a B.S. degree in Child Development and an M.Ed. in Special Education. She also received a general education, learning disability, reading/language arts specialist, along with a math credential (grades 6-9). In addition, she is trained in Orton-Gillingham, and is a National Institute for Learning Development (NILD) Certified Educational Therapist. Colleen has over 20 years of educational experiences in grades K-12, and was an online part-time Education Instructor for Central Piedmont Community College.
